Fourth Corner offers a selection of hundreds of classic American quilts, from faded beauties for the bed to museum-quality masterpieces for the most demanding collector.
Themed shows are scheduled throughout the year, so each visit also offers the chance to consider a different historical theme or sub-genre as you view the featured quilts on the walls.
Quilts range in era from the occasional astonishing survivor from the second quarter of the nineteenth century to a wealth of late nineteenth century classics and a full stock of early twentieth century stand-bys. Valiant efforts are made to keep the crib quilt case well-stocked since the classic small quilts find a treasured place is so many different settings. Fourth Corner's antique quilts are almost exclusively hand-quilted and the majority are made of cotton, with the occasional wool or silk piece from the nineteenth century.
By spring 2008, quilts will be available on the website, in glorious color and close-up detail, so you can take in these well-aged masterpieces and visit old favorites even when a stroll down A Street in person isn't on the cards. In the meantime, selections of the gallery quilts are offered periodically on eBay.
If you have a quilt to sell, a collection you might like to consign or would just like to air your treasure with an appreciative audience, we always love to see a new quilt come through the door. If you're coming from a distance and would like to discuss bringing a quilt in to the shop while you're here, please feel free to call or email ahead: (541)552.1818.
